A big welcome to the newest member of the Dance Stables family!

September 12, 2018

We are delighted to introduce our very own Drama teacher, Alex Cheung, who will be joining the DS team from this term onwards!

Alex is a Drama and Dance facilitator with 5 years experience of working with children and young people in art contexts. She recently graduated from the Drama, Applied Theatre and Education course at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Here, she trained in performance, specialising in clowning.

Previous to this, Alex comes from a Contemporary Dance background and has directed movement on shows such as Chicago and Little Shop of Horrors. Alex has performed across the UK, primarily in children's and family theatre shows. She loves Puppetry and Street Performance and when not working, enjoys attending spoken word slams and watching The Great British Bake Off.

Drama and Performing Arts not only engage the creative side of the brain but also provides balance in children’s education. This is why, here at Dance Stables, we have decided inclusion of Drama in the classes we offer to be essential and most definitely beneficial to our students.

Through our newly introduced Drama classes, our Dance Stables students will have the opportunity to explore the depth of human emotion, build confidence, communication and independence, and find an outlet for expression. These skills compliment Dance and Performance perfectly and will help to add an additional layer to our students abilities - as well as lots of fun!

Currently, Drama classes for the Autumn term are taking place at our Islington Academy (Mini and Junior classes) and at Stanburn Primary School. However, we are aiming to have Drama classes included in all of our academies by the end of the year so every one of our students has the chance to benefit. So watch this space!

Please get in touch with us to show interest in these classes and to be put on the waiting list.
