Because Sundays are for Dancing!

That’s right, here comes another inspiring Dance Stables Sunday Session and this is NOT TO BE MISSED!

Friends of Dance Stables and fellow Northern School of Contemporary Dance graduates, the incredible Alleyne Dance are coming to Artsdepot to run their DS Sunday Session workshops with us in this month - Sunday 20th May 2018!

If you missed their recent performance “A Night’s Game” at The Place, well, that’s a real shame, because it was SUPERB. But worry not, you can still book yourself in for this fantastic workshop with class being lead by Sadé Alleyne.  There are places currently available to join us, so book you place in advance to guarantee your place!

Alleyne Dance is a UK based, internationally touring, Contemporary Dance company. Twin sisters; Kristina and Sadé, are performers and choreographers having worked with people such as Akram Khan, Wim Vandekeybus, Gregory Maqoma, Arthur Pita, Tavaziva, Henri Oguike and too many more to name!

Their style blends Afro-Caribbean, HipHop, Kathak, Latin and Circus skills with Contemporary Dance and the result is fast-paced, physical, dynamic and generally awe-inspiring. Hard to imagine? Check them out doing their thing here:

But it isn’t just performance that they excel in, their interest in Dance Education is also high on their list of priorities. They have been involved with many youth groups and education centres such as Dance Mission (San Francisco, USA), GLL Sportathon (London, UK), B40 Youth Group, Academy of Performing Arts (London, UK), Greenwich Dance (UK), The Place (UK), CAT Schemes (London/ Nottingham/ Birmingham/ Manchester/ Leeds), Dance 4 (Nottingham, UK), Bird College (London, UK), The Brits School of Performing Arts and Technology (UK), London Studio Centre, Shift Youth Company (UK), SEAD (Austria) and again, many more but we can’t possibly fit them all in.

So, being as talented as they are, we expect great things from the workshop. Here’s what they had to say:

“DYNAMICS, RHYTHM & TEXTURE - This is a physical Contemporary Class, which will involve strong, complex and technical sequences in and out of the floor, focusing on performance and stamina. Improvisation will also be explored as part of self-development.

The significant factors are to develop the dancer’s creativeness, musicality, dynamics and to invest in different intentions to create different textures."
